Mattie, una viuda que vivía en los bosques de Florida durante la Ley Seca, se reúne con Trax, un hombre mucho más joven que ella y encantador. Trax es un mujeriego y contrabandista que fija su mirada en Mattie quien pueden apoyarlo. Tras casarse con Mattie, Trax trae a casa una mujer joven para ser su ama de llaves, pero es obvio que ha de ser su amante. Cuando Trax deja los negocios, las dos mujeres se dan cuenta de cómo están siendo explotados y Mattie idea un plan.
